Note 01Route summary

A relocation only lands well if the family lands with it. When a permit holder moves, their spouse, partner and children usually need join-family permission and, if visa-required, join-family visas.

10Questions on file
Q01Can a partner work once here?

It depends on the sponsor's permit and the stamp granted. Spouses and de facto partners of Critical Skills holders can register on Stamp 1G and work for any employer without their own permit; General Permit partners usually need their own permission.

Q02Do children need separate applications?

Yes. Each dependant needs their own application, but we prepare and lodge them together as one bundle so the family stays aligned.

Q03How soon can family join a General Permit holder?

Normally after about 12 months, and the sponsor must meet income thresholds. Build that gap into the relocation plan, or the hire may arrive alone and unsettled.

Q04Does every family member pay the IRP fee?

Yes. IRP registration is €300 per person per year, payable on arrival and at each renewal, for every member aged 16 or over.

Q05What if documents are not in English?

Civil documents such as marriage and birth certificates usually need certified translations. We arrange these so the file is not delayed by a request for further information.
